Stress in the midst of settling

The big move is finally over. Our individual dwellings have merged into one hodgepodge home.

During the transition, I’ve discovered I have way more things and thus take up way more square footage than I had previously thought. I attribute this to my moviemaking props and equipment. Whereas I was able to keep my lights and random props in my kitchen, I am no longer allowed that luxury; Only items related to the kitchen are kept there, which makes sense and helps keep domestic bliss. I know I’d be annoyed if I opened a cupboard door and a box of wigs fell out.

Living together is always the ultimate challenge in a relationship. It tests your tolerance and patience. It also challenges you to change certain habits in order to maintain the aforementioned domestic bliss.

The transition has it’s rewarding moments: grocery shopping for kitchen essentials, building furniture then deciding where to put it, doing collective laundry or just lounging in each others arms.

Our mounting stress (and steadfast pride) has been putting us at each other’s throats during this whole ordeal. But in the end, we makeup and go to bed clutching each other like a two fridge magnets. He’s the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. This is why it’s so worth it.
