The Canuck & The Quaker

This is my first stop-motion animation. The stars are two very unique bendable figures I found at a local thrift store yesterday. It was a random find and the pairing up of the two characters (a Canadian Hockey Player and a Quaker with a teddy bear permanently affixed to his hand) is a match as oddly perfect as Wallace and Grommet.

It took me three hours to do the animation itself and one mere hour to edit it together with music.

Having come from an illustration background, I found manipulating the limbs to move in a pseudo-realistic way to be easy. I knew what it had to look like, but the comprimise came when the figures began to fall over because of the awkward positioning.

Unfortunately since I was the sole witness to this process, no photographic documentation exists of me and my setup. I’ll take a photo of it next time. And yes, there will be more short movies like this one coming out in the future. I’m working on some storyboards as we speak.
